针对兴县中投国能洗煤厂原煤处理量小、煤泥水中高灰细泥循环、高频筛处理能力小、检修空间布局不合理、重点设备老化严重等问题，为进一步增加处理量、提高回收率、减少事故时间，提升洗煤厂综合效率，采用了打破煤泥闭路循环、增加煤泥分级旋流器预处理煤泥水、更换关键数质量设备等方法进行工艺设备改造，提升了洗煤厂的综合经济效益。
