Study on the Impact of Digital Economy on Regional Total Factor Energy Efficiency

数字经济已成为当前中国经济绿色高质量发展的重要推动力。基于2011—2021年省际面板数据,将数字经济分为数字产业化和产业数字化2个维度,衡量其对全要素能源效率的影响及其作用机制。研究结果表明:不同省份之间数字经济和能源效率发展差距较大。数字经济、数字产业化以及产业数字化对全要素能源效率存在先抑制、后促进的正“U”形影响,并且这三者都能够通过技术创新促进全要素能源效率提升。异质性分析表明,相较于东部和中部,西部数字经济对全要素能源效率的边际贡献较高。研究成果不仅找到提高能源效率的多种路径,还为数字化促进总体经济高质量发展提供了新的参考方向。
Digital economy has become an important driving force for the green and high-quality development of China’ s economy. Based onthe provincial panel data from 2011 to 2021, this paper divides the digital economy into two dimensions: digital industrialization andindustrial digitalization to measure its impact on total factor energy efficiency and its mechanism. The results show that there is a big gap inthe development of digital economy and energy efficiency among different provinces. Digital economy, digital industrialization and industrialdigitalization have a positive “ U” effect on total factor energy efficiency, which is first suppressed and then promoted. Moreover, all three canpromote the improvement of total factor energy efficiency through technological innovation. Heterogeneity analysis shows that the marginalcontribution of the western digital economy to total factor energy efficiency is higher than that of the eastern and central regions. This papernot only finds a variety of ways to improve energy efficiency, but also provides a new reference direction for digital intelligence to promote thehigh-quality development of the overall economy.
